Fergus McNeill: Desistance, Identity and Belonging


In this short talk, Fergus McNeill, professor of criminology and social work at the University of Glasgow elaborates on current research ideas and directions about desistance from crime and reoffending. Answering to a set of questions for the joint conference of Community Chaplaincy Association with Prison Chaplaincy, he focuses on the role of mentoring in desistance from crime, the factors of assessment of desistance processes as well as on individuals journeys of rehabilitation on personal, social, moral and legal levels.
