Coordinator: Dan Zambas

Firstly I want to say thank you – I have had the incredibly fortunate pleasure of watching Ragged grow from the very start. Its simple philosophy really struck a chord with me, something so obvious but equally necessary – “What do you love? What do you want to know? What do you want to be?” and most importantly “Did you know this existed?”. These are the questions that we do not ask our children in our current education system, and this ideal has been born out of the very absence of this question. For that, Alex, thank you.

I’m a parent to two wonderful little girls, little bright sparks whose existence helped inspire Alex to begin his journey with Ragged. My family are the reason I do what I do, like so many of us, and the support in my own musical journey… well words just want say quite enough what that means to me.

Music Management

Ragged Music aims to build a directory of Music Managers. If you are a musician or a band who is seeking to make a living from their music then it is important to do your homework and be prepared to present information in the way it is requested. A good book on this is The Music Management Bible put together by the Music Management Forum, which is worth while joining. Also the Unsigned Guide is a great resource..
Going into situations under-prepared and without the required commitment will create problems. If you are committed, self motivated and do what you say you will, then you will where you want to be. Unreliability, a lack of flexibility and an unwieldy ego will lose you friends you want friends where you are going ! Read more…

Hopefully we’ll have coffee available – bring your newspaper if you want, this is meant to be relaxed!

7th December 2015: Music by Sukh

I am Sukh Logo

Come along to the Blind Poet at 7pm for a music event with George Wilson followed by live music from Sukh:

Doctor by day, musician by night, the young Mancunian songwriter Sukh self released his debut album in 2013 and has been quietly working away behind the scenes since.  Acclaimed for his chamber folk tinged numbers (particularly breakthrough single ‘Kings’), Sukh employs an orchestral element that sounds big enough to uplift and reverb around a space 300 feet high, balanced by gentle comfortable strumming and lupine vocals.  Read more…

Music: I could never do that… By Daniel Zambas

Whenever I talk to people about creating music I regular hear the statement “I could never do that”. What is it that makes people on the whole think this? Is there some magical ingredient that must be present to be a musician? I don’t think that there is. I personally feel that it is very much a learned behaviour, a language and like a language time must be spent to understand it. Read more…
